Earthscapes

As a lot my work does, these images were not preplanned. There were no preparatory sketches made. They came out of the act of application where I move the paint across the canvas with high velocity wind. Layer upon layer the process would create forms, pools and puddles. Successive applications would destroy the previous forms and make new ones. Very much like the earth’s topography was formed over millennia. I would continue the applications until I began to see a semblance of an image that wasn’t purely abstract but had some grounding in a plausible reality.
