Carbon, as we know, is what all matter, living or otherwise is made of. Including us. I thought that there may be a new way of looking at this much maligned, but primal substance. Carbon occupies a crucial place at the confluence of life and death, creation and destruction. These paintings are made with fire and the smoke generated by it.
